Campaign Announcement Post

I’m excited to announce that I’m running for Provo City Council in District 2.

After living in 2 other states and 2 other countries, Rachel and I decided to make Provo our permanent home 4 years ago when we bought our first house.

It is the city where I was born and where Rachel and I fell in love.

We love the people, the mountains, the canyons, and the lake. We love the downtown, the energy that comes from being a college town, and we love how safe and friendly it is.

When we decided to put down roots in Provo, I wanted to contribute to our community. So, I volunteered for the Provo Planning Commission, where I became passionate about Provo's issues.

Provo is a fantastic place, but we face significant challenges with growth and affordability. I‘m running for City Council to help strengthen what makes Provo special: our community, natural beauty, and family-friendly environment.

I believe Provo should remain a place where families of different backgrounds, professions, and income levels can make a home:  a place where our firefighters, police officers, retail workers, cleaners, teachers, and others can continue to live and work.

I'm excited to bring my experiences as a startup CEO, planning commissioner, and management consultant to help solve Provo's challenges.

Here are also several specific things I hope to help our district with::
• Ensure the city delivers on upper Centennial Park as communicated
• Improve the parking situation on Slate Canyon Drive to an arrangement that is more friendly to residents
• Enhance preservation efforts for Slate Canyon and invest in/expand the park
• Work with Splash Summit Water Park to find a workable solution for them and the city
• Collaborate with the city, community, and business leaders to enhance the plan for South State Street

If elected, I promise to work hard, be accessible, follow the data, listen to all perspectives, and be responsive to feedback.

I'd love your support! Follow my campaign at whitlockforprovo.com and please comment or DM me to share what Provo issues are important to you.
