Why I'm Running
Why I'm Running
Why I'm Running
I'm running to make Provo work for all families and keep it great for our kids’ future. If elected, I will:
(1) Listen and represent you: I'll listen to constituents and incorporate your needs into everything I do (e.g., improve Slate Canyon Drive parking to be more resident-friendly while addressing safety concerns). I will also fight to keep Provo's municipal races nonpartisan.
(2) Invest in public places & natural resources: I'll protect our canyons (e.g., defend Slate Canyon by creating a conservation easement) and foothills, embrace our lake and river as part of Provo's identity, and invest in District 2 parks like Upper Bicentennial Park.
(3) Find balanced housing solutions: Everyone wants stronger neighborhoods, but the situation continues to get worse—it's time for a new strategy. We need solutions that protect our neighborhoods while also addressing our severe housing needs. Parking bans are not the answer.
(4) Champion fiscal responsibility: I'll develop a strategic plan to improve Provo's financial position and attract more high-paying jobs to Provo so we can better fund our sidewalks, roads, parks, and other essential services without raising taxes.
(5) Build safer streets and active transportation: Our safety backlog is large and underfunded. I'll prioritize budget for faster, low-cost enhancements in community- and staff-identified areas. I'll also work to connect trails and active transit routes throughout District 2, particularly the neglected southern part of our district.

Why I love Provo
Why I love Provo
Provo is where I was born, where my wife Rachel and I fell in love, and where we're raising our three kids. We love the people, natural beauty, BYU, and how safe and friendly it is.
Provo's growth brings exciting opportunities but also real challenges, particularly with the cost of living and housing. This should remain a place where families from all backgrounds can make a home—where our teachers, firefighters, police officers, and retail workers can afford to live and work.
Provo is a well-managed city, but we need a strategy to tackle short-term challenges and make progress toward our long-term plan.
I'll bring my extensive experience—as Planning Commission Chair, CEO, small business owner, and consultant for state governments and Fortune 500 companies—to help the Mayor and City Council develop and execute an effective strategy.
If elected, I'll work hard, stay accessible, follow the data, listen to all perspectives, and respond to feedback.
I'd love your support!

Hi, I’m Jeff 👋
Born in Provo, I grew up as the oldest of seven kids, moving 13 times by age 13. My dad worked multiple hourly jobs, and my mom was dedicated full-time at home. Those early years, filled with small apartments and tight budgets, taught me empathy and resilience. Frequent camping trips on a shoestring budget ignited my love for nature.

Public service runs in my family—my grandmother managed early campaigns for John McCain and traveled nationwide teaching the Constitution to high school students. Her dedication profoundly shaped my commitment to community and service.
Serving a mission in Africa deepened my belief that most people share more similarities than differences; what truly divides us is our access to opportunities.
Professionally, I've had the chance to cut costs and drive efficiency at Fortune 500 companies and state governments at McKinsey & Co. and lead at Utah tech companies and early-stage startups. These experiences taught me humility, curiosity, and the importance of staying reality-based and open to learning from everyone.
I've served organizations including Utah Valley Refugees, chairing the Provo Planning Commission, the committee that helped draft the Provo's Canyon and Foothill plan. I'm a Precinct Chair, representing our community multiple times as a State and County delegate. Most importantly, I’m a husband and father of three beautiful children.
A few of my favorite spots in District 2 are Slate Canyon, 7 Peaks Ice Arena, Bicentennial Park, and Como en Ecuador.
